Information for International Medical Graduates
The International Medical Students & Graduates section of AAPI became an executive voice during the 2005 National AAPI Convention in Houston. In just a few months, we have chartered several chapters at international schools with over 200 members across the globe. AAPI IMG serves as a link between these international chapters, whereby information about medical clerkships, the residency application process, and licensure can be exchanged. The IMG section also has the benefit of closely working with the parent AAPI organization—the largest minority medical association in the United States.
International AAPI chapters serve as an important resource for medical students interested in pursuing further medical education and training in the United States. Students involved in AAPI at their local school work closely with other members of the AAPI family and provide a unique perspective to the greater association. Not only do international members participate on a local level by improving the health care of their communities, but they also attend National AAPI Conventions, develop local and regional workshops, and host meetings. Collectively, AAPI IMG members contribute to promoting the interests of International Medical Graduates in the United States.
