AAPI Convention 2011

Thank you for all of you who came out to the AAPI Convention this past weekend in NYC. It was a huge success with a record number of MSRF/YPS members in attendance. After some notable CME speakers on Thursday morning, former President of India, Dr. Abdul Kalam inaugurated the convention during the lunchtime event. The afternoon featured a Forum on Physicians and Medical Entrepreneurship which was soon followed by the extravagant fashion show by Hemant Trevedi of Sheetal Boutique. Members then headed over to Slate for some pool and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere.

Friday began with a yoga session for MSRF/YPS members. After another morning of CME courses by well-known speakers, the lunchtime session featured Nobel Laureate Dr. James Watson. The Women's Forum was an enlightening event and was followed by dinner and drinks at NYC's famous rooftop bar, 230 5th. This exquisite venue featured a premium open bar and a fabulous menu catered by 230 5th and Mint.

Saturday morning started off with a research competition with some of the brightest and most accomplished MSRF members. MSRF elections were then held and followed by the ever-so-famous speed dating event which is held annually. The afternoon featured the panel Life Beyond Medicine and included Dr. Siddhartha Mukherjee, author of the Emperor of All Maladies. Members then headed over to New York's Famous Cipriani's for a red-carpet gala. This again featured a premium open bar and a delicious menu catered by Nanking. The event ended with a Sunday brunch as members said farewell to new friends and colleagues. Be sure to attend next year's convention June 28th-July1st in Long Beach California!
