 Committee Chairs

Community Services Chair
As Community Services Chair, I would like to organize at least one local fundraising event, and hopefully several others nationwide. I would also like to promote awareness of the rampant nature of cardiovascular disease within the Indian community, including the 'silent epidemic' of uncontrolled hypertension as well as diabetes. Another aim is to increase education of infectious diseases commonly seen in India, as well as those acquired by U.S. resident Indians who travel to India. I'm looking forward to raising money and awareness for worthy causes while bringing together young, intelligent and vibrant members of the U.S. Indian medical community!

Pooja Singal

Public Relations & Communications Chair
The Public Relations and Communications Chair serves to act as a liason between AAPI/MSRF and the public/media. This person serves as the representative voice for AAPI MSRF and is responsible for making press releases for all events including national conferences, regional events, and legislative day. Other responsibilities include working with the remaining board members to increase membership and awareness of parent AAPI events/activities. The Communication Chair also works with local chapters helping them increase community awareness in the local community leading to growth in pride, participation and participation.

Niraj Badhiwala

Convention Co-Chairs
On behalf of the MSRF AAPI, we would like to welcome you to our 2013 Convention in Chicago. Chicago is known for its amazing historical sites, fine dining, and vibrant night-life. Our mission is to provide an educational and entertaining environment for medical students, residents and fellows, while highlighting the charm of this beautiful city!  By promoting and organizing the 2013 AAPI Convention, we hope to provide an opportunity for medical students, residents, and fellows from across the nation to meet, network and be at the forefront of new medical discoveries. With morning educational sessions and evening social events, we plan to strike the perfect balance between “work and play.” In addition, we also plan to have three pre-convention launch events at distinguished locations around Chicago. We hope to see you in the Windy City for the best AAPI convention yet!

Sumeet Bhavsar

IMG Liaison

As IMG chair my goal is to strengthen and expand the connection between IMGs and the medical community here in the United States. Currently IMGs have a limited set of resources for information at their disposable and when available, information can be confusing, inconsistent, and difficult to interpret. This is especially true for those with little or no exposure to our medical education system. As many members of the AAPI family are themselves IMGs, it is incumbent upon us to help clear the air and provide IMGs with the information necessary to help them reach their goals. To that end I will be working with other members of our board, parent AAPI, and our already established contacts at ECFMG to provide IMGs with clear information and help them tackle issues pertaining to residency, exams, licensing, visa requirements, and etc.

Vik Soni

Membership Chair
As membership chair I look forward to uniting medical students, residents, and fellows across this nation who share in our common vision through AAPI. This year in particular, we hope to strengthen the relationships on a local-level between individual chapters and potential members within the community in order to develop an influential grassroots network of dedicated physicians. By creating new chapters and cultivating leaders across this country, we can ensure AAPI's continued and strong presence far into the future.

Dhaval Bhanusali

Website Chair
The webmaster is responsible for updating and improving the AAPI-MSRF website, the AAPI-MSRF Facebook page and email listserve. The website and Facebook pages are  resources for both AAPI members and non-members alike. They promote our activities, serve as platforms for communication with our members, and forums for the promotion of Indian culture. The website embodies our dynamic, bright, and enthusiastic group of future physicians that engage in clinical practice, community service, cutting-edge research, and advocacy. The Facebook page helps us utilize social media to keep our members informed about local events. As chair, my primary mission is to utilize this website, social media, and other forms of information technology to help connect AAPI-MSRF members around the world.
