The AAPI Medical Student and Resident Section represents over 10,000 students across the country. Although Asian Indians constitute less than 1 percent of the population of the United States, they constitute 10-12 percent of the student body in medical schools in the U.S. This dynamic, bright, and enthusiastic group of future physicians engages in clinical practice, community service, cutting-edge research, and the promotion of Indian culture. Their membership in AAPI is growing faster than any other group.

New Event Added to the Convention Schedule
Friday June 25th @ 3:00 PM

Question: "Wasn't the fact that you became a physician supposed to guarantee a long line of eligible prospects waiting when you were ready?"

Answer: Come hear retired surgeon-now-Desi-matchmaker, Dr. Vijay Mehta, give an entertaining and informative talk by about the challenges faced by South Asians in their search for a life partner! "Vijay Uncle", as he is affectionately known by young South Asians across North America, has devoted his second career to addressing the cultural, academic, educational and professional challenges faced by busy young professional Indians. He is a sought-after speaker, travelling across the continent to speak in his now-famously candid and humorous manner. So bring your friends, and be prepared to hear the politically incorrect and scientifically-unproven views of the coolest Desi uncle in North America!! Friday, June 25th @ 3pm (location TBA). Please be forewarned: he is an Uncle on a mission. Those of you who are 'seriously looking', please contact him as soon as possible at vijayvip@aol.com or on Facebook. Check out the discussion at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jai-Ho-Vijay-Uncle-Mehta/326538871962. Please spread the word.

You can also check out the event page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jai-Ho-Vijay-Uncle-Mehta/326538871962#!/event.php?eid=130905406923688&index=1 to let people know that you'll be there and to connect with other attendees before or after the event!
