AAPI takes Atlanta by storm!!!

The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) had their annual conference in Atlanta running from June 28-July 2, 2006 and the medical student/resident/fellow section (AAPI-MSRF) had a large turnout. Highlights of the conference included a national service project with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta, many guest speakers, and evening events. Various topics were addressed at the conference including the MSRF response to Hurricane Katrina, opportunities to practice International Medicine, and obstacles facing medicine. Evening social events took place at different venues in Atlanta and the final social gala was held at the High Museum of Art, an event that was attended by Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN medical correspondent/neurosurgery professor at Emory University.

AAPI-MSRF represents the interests of Indian medical students, residents, and fellows nationwide. This conference in Atlanta marks the beginning the academic year and will be followed by local conferences, legislative day, and more opportunities to promote the interests of young Indian medical professionals in training. Collectively, they represent approximately 10,000 students, residents, and fellows in the United States. If you are interested in joining AAPI-MSRF or would like to take a greater role in this organization, please visit our membership sections for more information
